Weak vs Strong, Dumb vs Intelligent

Happy Friday, IRON Gladiator -

I hope you crushed your training already and if not,
fuel up and get some good coffee to mentally prepare
for the WORK ahead.

Yesterday I did something I said I would never do - make one
of those reaction videos -
HERE.

I had to turn off the comments because each negative comment
got dumber and dumber.

"How many Olympians have you trained?"

"He's a World Champ, what have you done?"

"Russia is the BEST!"

As I KNEW would happen, the uneducated, inexperienced, dumb
humans came a knockin' - but I reminded myself of a quote:

arguing with a foolish or irrational person is a waste of your most valuable non-renewable resource: your inner peace and mental energy.

The internet is a f--ked up place. Dumb people running wild
in the streets insisting they are educated and intelligent and
experienced.

The training in that Video is NOT what a world level / Olympian
should be doing. It looks better suited for a Hyrox class.

On the flip side, the wrestler in that video was raised
and coached by the BEST in the world. His skill and
prior training are THE best, so he can do anything.

That doesn't mean it works.

Context of the athlete is crucial - most have NO clue
how the Olympians are built in Russia, they have Olympic
Coaches in their adolescent years.

In America, we have a local Dad coaching.

When it comes to training, the smartest are NOT on the interwebs,
the smartest and DOING the work. Often times NOT recorded,
Hidden from the masses.

They have read the books, written books, they have done the WORK (Decades of WORK) and they have done "research by actually training
themselves and others.

In The old Soviet Union, Coaches would get a Masters or PhD
in something specific to their sport, such as "Master's Degree in Biomechanics" - Thesis in the Impact of the Zercher Squat on
Junior Olympic Greco Roman Wrestlers.

They went DEEP.

Today, the "research" is watching 4 hours a day of
15 second clips and then copying them and calling
yourself an "expert".

I started training wrestlers in 1995 - this is not new to me.

The sh-t on the internet is getting worse, the best training is
not rising to the top, the biggest circus fads do.

In this 9 minute phone conversation I recorded with Louie
Simmons (Somewhere around 2008) there is MORE & BETTER
info here than in 9 hours of BS on the web.

My buddy said to me last week:

I am not impressed by the guy who is demonstrating himself training,
show me the guy who trains 50-100 athletes in a group, runs a gym
for 25 years and has coached Lehigh and Rutgers.

I thought to myself, Hell yea, damn straight.

There are those that DO and
those that Don't
Those that WILL
and those that Won't

I'll see you in the squat rack.

Happy Friday, IRON Brother - I'm sipping on some tea and honey before I hit the road to The Underground. One of the OG Edison athletes reached out to connect. I toldhim, of course, come and train with us and then we'll grab some coffee. I love that I am still in touch with athletes from years and now, almost decades ago. I remind myself, How would I want my own children to be treated by someone. Sometimes my old athletes reach out for some clarity, some fire and some "life stuff". Just when...
