You’re Not “Getting Old” — You’re Getting Soft

Happy Friday, IRON Gladiator -

I was just at The Underground and it's been FARM Bar Friday
for the past few weeks for me.

Dialing in my Deads and getting STRONG.

Our adults were on the trap bar today.

We have adults from age 40 to their 50s and early 60s.

STRENGTH is a Choice.

I drove home and imagined that Louie Simmons and Bob Hoffman
are looking upon us from The IRON Heavens.

What do they see?

Somewhere from above…

Past the noise, past the comfort, past the excuses…

There’s an “IRON Heaven.”

And the old school legends are watching.

Louie Simmons. Inspired by the early articles from Bill Peanuts
West and his garage crew of world champion lifters and athletes.

Bob Hoffman - his first gym was the second floor, so the lifters could
NOT drop the weights. Those eccentrics built jacked and strong DUDES!

These are all lessons learned from Men who built strength the hard way — with calloused hands, busted knuckles, and
zero tolerance for excuses.

They look down today… and they don’t see age.

They see men quitting early. Excuses. ALL Bull Sh-t.

They see men talking themselves out of lifting heavy.
Men choosing comfort over challenge.
Men accepting weakness like it’s just “part of getting older.”

You can NOT inspire your family and children with weakness
and excuses.

Louie would shake his head and say:
“You got soft because you stopped doing hard things.”

Hoffman would remind you:
“Your body was built to be strong — not comfortable.”

These men didn’t wait for motivation.
They didn’t need perfect programs.
They didn’t care about trends.

They sought STRENGTH and it was EARNED.

They showed up whether it was 5 AM before work or 6 PM after work.
They lifted.
They pushed until something inside them hardened.

And they’d tell you the same thing right now:

Pick up something heavy.
Carry it. Press it. Fight with it.

Breathe hard. Get uncomfortable.
Feel your strength come back.

Because the truth is simple…

You don’t lose strength because of age.
You lose it because you stop demanding it from yourself.

The IRON is still there.
Waiting.

And it doesn’t care how old you are.

But those men watching from above?

They’re wondering if you still have some fight left in you.

Prove it. DO the damn thing.

Live the Code 365,

Zach

PS - Your comfort zone is keeping you exactly where you are.

Same environment. Same training.

Comfort and BS "workouts".

It's time to put your foot down and stop wasting time. Time to TRAIN.

Back in 2009, I recall taking a "sick day" from teaching when my buddy Joe Kenn reached out to bring his staff to trainat The Underground. Louisville was in town for a Football game vs Rutgers and The Underground was 10 minutes away. We had a great day and it was amazing to have a high level D1 staff to not only train, but to LEARN. "House Rules" was that his staff must train with the Coach. There was no option to "Do our own program". Why? How do you learn if you refuse to try something new?...
